IRASSHAIMASE

The search for harmony, as well as fashions and manners, sometimes count more than the goal, and the Japanese grow up assimilating the subtleties of this unique culture as they go through life, respecting the invisible and varied rules of society.

Japan has a fascinating, multi-faceted culture and 'WA' (in Japanese), a value based on the principle of avoiding discord, is perhaps the term that best characterises the Japanese way of life. Although Japan is known for its time- and energy-consuming work ethic, the Japanese place a high value on this social cohesion.

This is certainly a soothing characteristic, but it is not without consequences since, under the pretext of not breaking the balance of things, we sometimes witness an alienation, even a repression of unexpressed feelings.

On the one hand, steeped in the deepest traditions dating back thousands of years; on the other hand, a society in constant evolution, Japan is proof of a cultural development that constantly pushes the limits of the possible.

FACE À L'INVISIBLE

"FACING THE INVISIBLE" is an unedited advocacy work, as well as a tribute to the commitment of the staff who have worked under extreme conditions.

This editorial project is the result of a photographic essay carried out on the frontlines, side by side with hospital staff on the intensive care and emergency wards at the "Infirmerie Protestante" in Lyon, France.

The photographs contained in this book represent a way of sharing the emotions, tensions and courage of the glances and gestures that saved lives.

A photographic narrative of an unprecedented period in history.
